What Does It Do?

The Medusa acts as an intelligent bridge between two systems that were never designed to talk to each other: your PHP Hydra Chip tuning module and your Edge CTS3 in-cab display.

Once installed, the Edge CTS3 recognizes Medusa as a Power Level EAS Controller — giving you a dedicated Power Level gauge on the Gauge Layout screen. From there, you can switch tunes on the fly with a tap, right from your dash.

If you prefer to keep your original Hydra switch, Medusa supports that too. It will sync in real time to reflect any changes made on either device.

Why Medusa? Previously, switching Hydra power levels required reaching for a dedicated physical switch. Medusa brings that control into the Edge touchscreen environment — one less thing to fumble with on the road or on the track.

Required: Update Your CTS3 First

📋
Step 1 — Update CTS3 via Edge

Before installing the Medusa and before installing Power Hungry Performance's CTS3 patch, you must update your CTS3 using Edge's official Update Agent / Ignition software.

You can download the Update Agent / Ignition software directly from Edge's software updates page. Skipping this step can cause the PHP firmware patch and Medusa to behave unexpectedly.

⚠️
Step 2 — Apply PHP CTS3 Patch

Once your CTS3 is fully updated via Edge, apply the Power Hungry Performance CTS3 firmware patch. This is what enables Medusa detection as a Power Level EAS Controller. Instructions are included in the box.

How It Works

1

Connect the Ribbon Cable

Unplug the existing Hydra ribbon cable and plug it into one of the two ribbon ports on the Medusa. Either port works. If you're keeping your original Hydra Switch, connect a new ribbon cable (included) from the switch to the second port on the Medusa.

2

Connect the Edge CTS3 EAS Cable

Locate the 6-pin EAS connector on your Edge CTS3 cable. If you have other EAS devices, connect the Medusa/EAS cable to the Edge first, then plug your existing accessories into the pass-through connector. If no other EAS devices are present, plug Medusa's EAS cable directly into the Edge 6-pin port. Then plug the 4-pin end into the Medusa module.

3

Power On & Configure

Turn the ignition to the "On" position. The Edge CTS3 will automatically detect Medusa as a new Power Level EAS Controller. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete integration, then navigate to the Gauge Layout screen — you'll see a Power Level PID gauge ready to use.

4

Sync & Drive

Each time the CTS3 reboots, Power Level displays as 0 — press up or down once to sync to the current active level. From there, use the Power Level gauge on your Edge screen to change tunes on demand. The original Hydra Switch (if installed) updates in real time.

Normal Mode vs. Bypass Mode

Default

Normal Mode

The Edge CTS3 controls Hydra power levels 1–6. The Medusa monitors the active level and displays it on the gauge. If your original switch is installed, it syncs in real time to always reflect the current tune.

Advanced

Bypass Mode

Unlocks access to all tunes — including Level 00, No Start (NS), and levels above 6 — using the original Hydra Switch. The Edge screen will no longer control the chip in this state. To re-enter Normal Mode, simply power down and restart the system.

Limitations to Know

🔢
6-Level Cap via Edge Screen

The Edge CTS3 interface is limited to 6 power levels. If your Hydra Chip is programmed with more than 6 levels, levels 7 and above are only accessible through Bypass Mode using the original Hydra Switch.

🔄
Sync Delay After Reboot

Every time the Edge CTS3 restarts, Power Level resets to 0 on the display. This is cosmetic — press up or down once to re-sync the display to the actual active tune. The Hydra Chip itself is unaffected.

🚫
Special Tune Access

Level 00, No Start (NS), and tunes above level 6 cannot be selected through the Edge screen in Normal Mode. Bypass Mode is required, and your original Hydra Switch must be connected to Medusa to use it.
