We know you’re going to be excited and will want to get this installed right away, so here’s a couple things you’ll want to keep in mind. The following is the quick-start list to help get you going.

NOTE: Please make sure you read and follow Item Number 5 below. It is extremely important that you e-mail us the files that were saved on the computer during the initial vehicle session or you may experience an unnecessary delay in receiving your modified calibration.

  1. The USB Drivers for the Orion Reflash System™ hardware DO NOT automatically install. There are 3 versions (Windows XP / Vista, Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1, and Windows 10) and you’ll need to select either the 32 Bit or 64 Bit installer based on your processor. Most newer operating systems are 64 Bit, so that would be the logical choice, and if your computer is newer than 2018 you probably have Windows 10 as well.

If you have any questions on this step, please let us know. The drivers can be found under the [Help] menu in the Orion Reflash System™ application, or can be found in the Windows [Start] menu under [All Programs] -> [Power Hungry Performance] -> [Orion] -> [USB Drivers].

  2. Once the drivers are installed, you’ll need to connect the device to the laptop and let Windows complete the driver installation.

  3. If the USB Drivers are installed correctly, the Orion Reflash System™ software will automatically detect if the hardware is connected. You shouldn’t have to manually configure anything.

  4. When connected to the vehicle, the software will automatically detect if the key is on or off. The best procedure for connection is to plug the Orion Reflash System™ Cable into the Medium Duty OBD Connector on the vehicle, connect the USB from the Orion Reflash System™ hardware to the Laptop, run the Orion Reflash System™ software, and then turn the key on. You will be prompted to cycle the key as needed. If the key is already on when the Orion Reflash System™ software is started, the software will detect this and prompt you to cycle the key as needed.

NOTE: In some applications, in order to be able to correctly communicate with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), you will need to pull the fuse for the ABS. This will usually be a 5 Amp or 10 Amp fuse and will be listed as “IGN – Antilock Brake System”, “IGN – Feed ABS”, or “IGN – Feed Air ABS”. Depending on vehicle model, this fuse will be located in the Chassis Fuse Panel or Power Distribution Box.

Also, on vehicles equipped with an electronic shift Allison transmission (3000 Series), you’ll also need to pull the fuse for the Transmission Control Module (TCM). This will usually be a 10 Amp fuse and will be listed as “XMSN IGN Feed / Back-Up Fuse” or something similar. Depending on vehicle model, this fuse will be located in the Engine Fuse Panel or Power Distribution Box.

If you need assistance in locating these fuses, please contact us directly.

You can also visit: http://forum.gopowerhungry.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9931 which may help provide an idea of where to look for the appropriate fuses.

Once programming is complete, these fuses can be reinstalled.

  5. IMPORTANT! The first time you connect to a vehicle, the software will identify that the Engine Control Module is not in its library and will proceed to immediately save a copy of the Optional Parameters from the vehicle’s ECM as well as the Vehicle Information. Also, every time the vehicle connects with the software, a copy of the Vehicle Information is stored in the Windows Clipboard. In order to create the custom file for your vehicle, you will need to e-mail us a copy of this information so that we can determine the ECM calibration (and IDM calibration, if necessary) for the vehicle and compile the custom files.

In order to process the modified calibration, we ask that you create an e-mail and paste the Vehicle Information ([Ctrl] + [V]) in the e-mail body. In addition, you must also attach the two files that were saved during the initial vehicle identification process. One of these files will be the Optional Parameter File (*.OPF) and the other will be a standard text file (*.TXT) containing the information required by our team to complete your order. The filenames will contain the ECM Serial Number and Date/Time as the filename. Please send this information to or***@go***********.com and our staff will get the modified file to you as quickly as possible. Again, any delay in sending us these files will result in an unnecessary delay in completing your order and sending you the modified calibration.

Under normal circumstances, this calibration process should only take a couple hours depending on when the files are received. However, if the files are received late in the evening or over the weekend, they may not be processed until the next business day.

  6. IMPORTANT! Please include the name under which the order was made as well as the Invoice Number so we can correctly reference your order. Otherwise, you may experience an unnecessary delay in receiving your calibration file.

  7. Once we receive all the necessary information, we will send you an e-mail containing a modified calibration as well as further instructions on how to load the calibration into your vehicle. Once the modified calibration is installed, you’ll be able to select your desired power level as well as be able to modify the Optional Parameters such as Speed Limiter, Rev Limiter, Cruise Control, Tire Size, and other options.

Overall performance gains will vary from vehicle to vehicle based on the current Engine Family Rating as well as the configuration of the drivetrain components, including fuel injector volume and turbo sizing. Certain applications or vehicles may not realize the same gains as others, and should not be considered to be a limitation of the tuning.
